Our Fitness & Coaching Programs
This is a system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind. Each class is adapted to the current students and class size is kept intentionally small to allow for individual attention. Ashtanga Yoga for Rehabilitation is perfect for you if you have particular injuries that require modifications to poses. General Ashtanga Yoga is for you if you are ready to progress with strength and flexibility. Please call to inquire about class times. Individual instruction is available upon request. Drop-ins are welcome.
Tai Chi for Arthritis (TCA) tchi.org
This eight-week series is part of the Tai Chi for Health forms. Tai Chi for Arthritis, designed by Australian family physician Paul Lam, is based on the Sun style Tai Chi. TCA is easy to learn, effective, and safe. It increases flexibility, muscle strength, and heart/lung activity, aligns posture, improves balance, and integrates the mind and body. Scientific studies conducted by Seoul National University in 2001 and the Arthritis Foundation of New South Wales in 2001 have shown this program to be safe and effective. Thousands of people with arthritis have gained pain relief and a better quality of life from learning and practicing TCA. Beginner classes start throughout the year. Individual instruction is available upon request.
Strength and Conditioning Classes
Strength training has been shown to be an effective tool to decrease joint stress and pain, and to preserve joint health. Designed in collaboration with coaches and physical therapists, these small groups are led by a Certified Personal Trainer. The Post Rehabilitation Strength Class focuses on building strength while modifying exercises to relieve stress on injured joints or muscles. General Strength and Conditioning class is designed to prepare the participant for higher-level activities such as competitive or recreational sports. Drop-ins are welcome to both classes. Please call to inquire about class times.
If classes are not your style, you can take advantage of the expertise of our personal trainers. They will create training programs specific to your needs and goals and will consult with the Physical Therapists regarding any injury/health concerns. Please call for an appointment.
People choose to get a massage for many different reasons, including: to get relief of symptoms, to help heal injuries, and to promote overall wellness. Our massage therapists will customize your massage to meet your needs and will consult with a physical therapist (if you have been treated by a PT) before initiating a massage. They use deep tissue massage and neuromuscular massage, which is designed to treat the underlying causes of pain. This form of massage addresses trigger points, postural issues, and staffmechanical problems. Massage is available by appointment.

Functional Movement Screen (FMS) functionalmovement.com
The Functional Movement Screen is a screening process that identifies injury risk by exposing dangerous movement patterns in people of all ages. These poor movement patterns are caused by muscle strength and flexibility limitations and asymmetries (right/left, front to back, and top to bottom imbalances). These imbalances in turn can cause compensatory changes in multiple areas of the body resulting in an increase in the potential for injury. The screen includes 2 sessions. The first session will include the screen and initial corrective exercises. During the second visit the corrective exercise technique will be assessed and advanced if appropriate.
Running Form Analysis
Trying to avoid injury while training for a run event? Looking for a way to improve your run times? Video run analysis can help by highlighting the inefficiencies and imbalances in your gait. The analysis is performed by a Physical Therapist and the session will include run drills to improve technique and corrective exercises to eliminate imbalances. Please call for an appointment.
